The Apple corps whipped itself into a fever pitch these last few days as its members wait for the high-priest of the technorati on Wednesday to unveil the next sweet thing in consumer technology at an event in California — the land from where all things cool spring.
Steven P. Jobs, the chief executive of Apple Inc. and the guru of gadgets, is widely anticipated to introduce a tablet computer during an event in San Francisco whose intent has been telegraphed — to resurrect an ancient technological term — for weeks.
Jobs’ timing is perfect, said Doug Hebbard, publisher of online blog Talking New Media.
For weeks, tech gearheads and technology industry observers have been saying they expect the new mobile device to advance the usefulness of tablet computers and concurrently propel consumers’ adoption of electronic reading technology.
