The City College International Book Fair is an annual fall event. But the moniker of the fair is attached to a spring series of readings and book signings at San Diego City College downtown.

Four events begin with a reading and book signing by the author of this year’s “One Book, One San Diego” selection, Warren St. John, on February 18 at 9:30 a.m. in the campus; Saville Theater. “Outcasts United,” is the tale of soccer team in a small town in the American South and their inspiring coach. This team is made up of refugees from war zones in Liberia, Congo, Sudan, Iraq and Afghanistan and their resettlement process transforms the life of this community.

Next up: Orange County based journalist Gustavo Arellano, who writes the popular syndicated column, “Ask a Mexican.” A book by the same title, published in 2007, was a best-seller and his most recent book was “Orange County: A Personal History” (2009). She will appear on March 11 at 9:30 a.m. in the faculty dining room (D121).
