Library's book sale in full swing

GLENS FALLS u It was a book he's borrowed from the library before, but now it's his to own.

Bill Woodward was ecstatic on Friday when he found a 1980s history book from the state of New York that includes a list of Revolutionary War soldiers - and the name of one of his ancestors.

"I've used the book for research in libraries before," he said. "It lists his regiment and where he was mustered in and out. I have 10 relatives who were in the Revolutionary War."

But on Friday, when he found the book at the Crandall Public Library Book Sale, he was able to take it home and keep it.

Although Woodward, the director of the Charles R. Wood Theater, sells antiques, he said he won't be selling this historical find.

"It's going in my genealogy collection," he said of the book which he purchased at the book sale for $25.

If you can find it the reprint, Woodward said it sells for $125.

"But this is the original. I'm not going to sell it," he said.

Product Description

Sales master Jeffrey Gitomer has created a real-world, practical, and fun book that salespeople will love and profit from -- and sales managers will buy by the case.

Salespeople want answers. That's why the Little Red Book of Selling is short, sweet, and to the point. It's packed with answers that people are searching for in order to help them make sales for the moment - and for the rest of their lives.

In the Little Red Book of Selling salespeople will learn why sales happen and a philosophy of success - long term, relationship driven, and referral oriented - nothing to do with manipulation or other old-world sales tactics. It has everything to do with understanding buying motives and taking ethical, relationship-building actions.

People don't like to be sold but they love to buy has become more than Gitomer's registered trademark- it's a mantra. A mantra every salesperson needs to understand at the core of his selling success. Throughout this book the reader will begin to adopt a philosophy that drives them to a higher, value-driven purpose.

There are 12.5 powerful principles of sales mastery. These principles are at the heart of sales success. They are the difference between red (putting your heart into your career) and black (having a job, coming to work, and making a commission). Other chapters include; What's the Difference between Failure and Success in Salespeople, The Little Salesman that Could, The Two Most Important Words in Selling, and Just Plain "How to Make a Sale."

The cover is classic red cloth. The four-color graphics make it compelling and easy to read, and the content is easy to understand and implement. For your convenience there is a red satin (ok, polyester) bookmark so you can remember your place. It is small enough to carry with you - big enough to contain the answers you need — powerful enough to fill your wallet.

Product Description

Monkey Business"Caps! Caps for sale! Fifty cents a cap!" The peddler has huge stack of caps, balanced carefully on top of his head. Brown caps, blue caps, gray caps, and red caps. But no one wants to buy a cap. So he goes for a walk in the country, and takes a nap under a shady tree. When he wakes up, the caps are gone -- al except his own checked one. Where could his caps have disappeared to? And how will he ever get them back?
Subtitled A Tale of a Peddler, Some Monkeys and Their Monkey Business, this absurd and very simple story has become a classic, selling hundreds of thousands of copies since its first publication in 1940. A peddler walks around selling caps from a tall, tottering pile on his head. Unable to sell a single cap one morning, he walks out into the countryside, sits down under a tree, checks that all the caps are in place, and falls asleep. When he wakes up, the caps are gone--and the tree is full of cap-wearing monkeys. His attempts to get the caps back generate the kind of repetitive rhythm that 3- and 4-year-olds will adore.
